FAQ

What is a Flexible spending account (FSA)? An FSA (Flexible Spending Account) is a special type of savings account that lets you set aside money from your paycheck, before taxes, to pay for certain expenses. This can save you money because you’re using pre-tax dollars, which lowers your taxable income. What it typically covers: Healthcare Expenses: Doctor's visits Prescription medications Dental care (like cleanings or braces) Vision care (like glasses or contact lenses) Medical equipment (like crutches or blood pressure monitors) Dependent Care Expenses (if it’s a Dependent Care FSA): Childcare costs (like daycare or babysitters) Care for a disabled spouse, child, or parent while you work FSAs usually have a "use-it-or-lose-it" rule, meaning you must spend the money within the plan year (or a short grace period) or lose it. Some plans allow you to roll over a small amount to the next year. See blog for in depth explanations.

What is a Health spending account (HSA)? An HSA (Health Savings Account) is a special savings account you can use to save money for healthcare expenses. You can put money into it tax-free, and it grows tax-free too. Plus, you don’t pay taxes when you use the money for qualified medical expenses. Key Features: Only for people with high-deductible health plans (HDHPs): You must have a specific type of health insurance plan with a high deductible to open an HSA. Money rolls over: Unlike an FSA, you don’t lose the money at the end of the year—it stays in your account until you need it. Portable: If you change jobs or health plans, the HSA is still yours. What it typically covers: Doctor’s visits and hospital stays Prescription medications Dental care (like cleanings, fillings, and braces) Vision care (like glasses, contacts, and eye exams) Mental health services Medical equipment (like crutches or wheelchairs) Some over-the-counter medications and health supplies (like bandages) An HSA is a great way to save for current and future medical costs, especially since unused funds can grow over time. See blog for in depth explanation.

About Flexup Wellness PLLC Flexup Wellness PLLC is a telehealth company that works with skilled nurse practitioners to provide health evaluations. Our focus is on helping individuals determine their eligibility for treatments that may require a Letter of Medical Necessity. This can help expand coverage options through FSA and HSA for holistic health solutions, empowering you to take a more integrative approach to your well-being.

Can another healthcare professional write me a Letter of Medical Necessity? Another medical professional, such as your primary care provider, may be able to provide a letter of medical necessity. However, many practitioners are unfamiliar with the tax eligibility requirements and the specific legal elements that must be included in such a document. Additionally, drafting these letters often requires unreimbursed time, which may make some providers reluctant to fulfill this request.

Am I guaranteed a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) to get the eligibility coverage I am looking for? A LMN is appropriately granted to qualified clients based on review of the health survey by our nurse practitioners. There is no guarantee you will be eligible, although a great majority due qualify. If you're not eligible, you will be refunded 50%. Even if you're not eligible, you can still keep access and enjoy a 15% discount on a Fullscript account as our gift to you.

Is my information private? Absolutely! Our practitioners are abided by HIPAA law just like any other healthcare professional. A secure electronic medical record system is in place for your privacy and protected health information. The health evaluation form is also HIPAA protected.
